Is it ok to reverse the position of the speakers in surround setup.

I have seating arrangement where the center speaker has to be set behind the sofa and the right and let speakers in front of the sofa. The Subwoofer would be on the side.
Is that acceptable for surround sound?

Probably not. The center channel is where most speech is vectored. That would have the dialog coming from behind the viewer.
