is it possible to replace my ide HDD with CF

ok so i have an old laptop its a compaq armada with a 3gig ide drive i have an 8gig udma compact flash card sitting around and figured id see if i could use it as a hard drive in my old windows 98 se laptop? is this possible if so how do i do this im sure i need some sort of an adapter

my laptop is a compaq armada SB 5200 series
 
Oh that brings me memories, when i played lion king on a 33mhz pc with 200mb Quantum hard disk.
Honestly you don't want to use this laptop.
Just put it on a shelf, for next generations.
A few decades more and it will be Antique!

i have a windows 7 desktop that i use for my main pc this pc was given to my as a gift because i love to tinker with older computers and i love to play old dos games on actual hardware no dosbox here
