Is it the LCD invertor or the backlight?

Hey guys, this is my first post on tom's guide. I'd really appreciate if the forum members could please help me out with this problem!

I have a Toshiba A305-S6825 Laptop. for the past few weeks the brightness of the screen had dimmed, and today it started to flicker a lot. Now its totally blacked out!

When I switch the power, it shows me the Toshiba sign, and then shows the booting and as soon as the login window comes up, the screen turns black. Even though the screen is blacked out, i can see the desktop and if i use a flash light everything is visible.

I tried connecting to an external monitor and it works perfectly. the laptop screen works till the log-in page and then blacks out!

Now I'm not sure is it the backlight or the invertor that i should be replacing!

I'd really appreciated help in this matter!

Thanks a lot guys! :)

Hi,

It should be the back light of the laptop cause if it was the inverter you won't be able to see any image at all in your screen. Hope this helps.
