Is Lenovo y50-70 the right choice for me?

Hi, I am beginner in programming, i learned c++ basics and studying java at the moment.
I have been thinking faraway about buying a laptop instead of the old PC I have now so I searched for suitable laptops and i found that the Lenovo Y50-70 the best for me less issues and high performance , whatever, all the laptops available in my country stores come with the dual core I7 although they are expensive so I am about to buy this one with 8500EGp(Egyptian pound) The question is am i going to make good use of this powerhouse at my level of programming(beginner) as i am planning to get further in programming levels, Also i am from the people who buy a pc or laptop every couple of years so i chose this laptop for future uses also .or is it better to buy a cheap laptop?

Any suggestions ?

For what you are looking to do, the Y50 would be considered overkill (IMO) I'd venture a super inexpensive platform like the BeagleBone Black http://beagleboard.org/BLACK could do the job and provide a more rounded learning experience. Of course it does depend on where you want to take your programming. As you get further into it, the BBB might not keep up but I still think it's one heck of a learning tool for next to no investment

You could get anything from the BeagleBone Black (I'd add the Raspberry Pi but last I saw there was still some issues running full java versions but you could look into that also) on up to a full rack system but I honestly think that if not wanting to experiment some with a BeagleBone, a decent mid-range laptop should do just fine but the Y50-70 is a quite bit over the top IMO
