Is microcast dongle a good solution?

Hi !

I have a question about microcast dongles.

From me sitting in the couch with a laptop, how will i be able to watch my movie (local file, not netflix etc) from my laptop on my TV without HDMI cable?
Will a microcast dongle do the trick or do you guys have any suggestions?

I believe you are referring to the Miracast dongles. And yes, it will allow you to do what you are describing as it essentially lets you mirror your screen onto another display using a Wi-Fi Direct connection.
