Is my Nikon D3100 broken?

Where the lens is connected to the body, it is loose. Does it need to be screwed back? I'd love to post a picture of this but I don't know how!
Urgent please! The fate of my dear camera depends on you!

It is screwed in like normal. But there is a part that's open. It's not broken. Just loose. Quite difficult to explain without showing. Sorry...
