On one of the websites i visit theres usually a redirect ad and lately its been the same ad everytime; about something called SearchLock. The page doesnt download any files or extensions but rather says to turn off search tracking with their extension: https://postimg.org/image/xupc2vxdr/

The website thats sponsoring the ad from a quick google search seems legit as they do have a secured HTTPS connection and support one of the most popular adblock extensions: uBlock Origin.

Is this SearchLock thing legit or is it still classified as malware?

well by me saying "legit" i mean that its completely safe and wont be installed without my permission
cause me getting this as an ad(https://postimg.org/image/xupc2vxdr/) is kind of a flag in my case

Hi,

I work for SearchLock so this might seem a little bit biased but we are legit. We also are aware of the many articles that try to ruin us by saying we are browser hijackers or malware so they can scare the readers and have them install their anti-malware programs.

Installing SearchLock also requires many steps that ask the user permission for it to be installed, we do not want to silently install it on your browser. And if ever you want it uninstalled, you can easily do so like any other browser extension: by removing it in your chrome's extension page.

If you want, you can know more about us by reading our about us page here: https://www.searchlock.com/about or contact our support team here: http://help.searchlock.com/discussions/11788-support/new
