As far as I know it works as well as on most phones. You may have to turn it off and back on (the GPS itself) to refresh it sometimes, but that happens on most any phone.
Your carrier/service provider, however, will be a large effect in this area. If they have spotty service in any given area, then you will have problems with more than just the GPS. So make sure whatever carrier/service provider you plan to use it with has good service in the area where you are going. That is if you have data through them of course.
