Is there a program that allows me to control the speed of my Toshiba laptops fan.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L300 currently running Windows vista. Lately my laptop has been over heating. I have tried almost everything. I have downloaded Speed Fan but it didn't detect any of my fans. So I am looking for another software that will allow control of my computers fan.

I'm going to recommend a thorough physical cleaning of the laptop, this guide seems to be good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uL5PhH80VQ to get you going. If you do not remove the heatsink itself, no thermal compound is needed, just clean the fan vent and reassemble. If you do remove the heatsink, thermal compound will need to be replaced

Thanks for the suggestion, however I am really not than keen on opening up my laptop, I just want a software that cools down my computer. I have just turned it on and opened up tomsguide.com and it is already over heating, its to hot to even put on my lap. So I would like a solution as soon as possible.

Hi, no software will clean the fan if it is full of dust, like C12Friedman wrote, you must open the laptop or give it to someone who knows what he is doing, to remove the dust around the fan. He can also replace the thermal paste at the same time.

Yes I know that, but my fan is completely clean because I took all the dust out of it a while back, however it didn't resolve the over heating issue.

Did you replace the thermal paste on the CPU. Replacing the paste could maybe solve your problem.
