Is this "gaming" laptop worth it?

I'm looking for a decent sub- £1000 laptop I can use generally at university, but also for gaming and running programs like photoshop.

I frequently read that these gaming laptops are not great value, and wanted to see if anyone could recommend a better buy. I apologise for the vague question, but the laptop I'm currently wondering about is:

not bad, 960M video, 16 Meg of ram, I7 cpu

but I don't know the price in england so I can't say if it's a good deal.

Well it depend if you need the power and speed. To gamer that run with high setting it does matter. I'm not a gamer but i always buy gamer machines because they are fast. I now have an Alienware 18.

It is a good deal if you are looking to play games at med to high settings.
