Hmm well they are both i7, so I think they are both quadcore? I don't see an i5 model.

So pretty much the difference is the 1080p, blueray, and the extra 16GB SSD.

i7's in the mobile line-up are only quad core if they have a "QM" designation at the end, otherwise they are just very fast dual cores with hyperthreading and turbo boost.

Well if you click the link in the beginning they are both QM, right?

So would you spend 150 extra for the 1080p and 16GB SSD?

If you would.. then would you even spend another 100 dollars for 16GB of memory isntead of 8?

Not sure if that even helps with anything.. also for the extra 100 it says 3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3632QM Processor( 2.20GHz 1600MHz ) instead of 3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3630QM Processor( 2.40GHz 6MB).

Not sure if thats actually better also lol...

Sorry i was referring to the Y400 it has an i5 model which is a dual core. The Y500 has all quad cores but some models are 3632QM and the other is 3630qm. Go for the 3630qm the 3632 is a little bit slower so get the $950 model. Its not worth paying $100 more for a lesser CPU and 8gb more ram. You could probably upgrade to 16gb if you really want to for $50-75 by buying the ram modules yourself.

If you dont want or need the 1080p screen you can save yourself $150 and just get the $800 model. It is really up to you, but most people would recommend a FHD screen because the 768p screens usually have noticeably bad quality, however i never have really had any problems with my laptops that have been 768p
