Issues Converting Video Files

Hi All,

I have a very strange problem when trying to convert video files. I normally use freemake video converter or handbrake to convert .avi .mkv etc etc to mp4 to play on my Apple TV.

These conversions normally take around 15-20 mins for a file around 1gb in size. Since yesterday these are now taking upwards of 2 hours and when they do convert finally they skip and are unplayable.

This seemed to have occured after Avast 8 install, so I removed Avast all together same problem. I un installed and re installed the applications used to convert same issues. I ran a defrag on my drive, still no change. The rest of my applications and general performance seems fine, just have the issue when doing the conversions.

I have also scanned for viruses malware, no infections.

Any ideas of where I go to from here?

Are you using an Apple Mac laptop or Apple mac desktop or something else?

If it worked previously, it could be that the software is making temp files and your storage capacity is nearly full. Check your free space of the hard drive.
