I don't care about contract prices. Off-contract prices are ridiculous though. $780 on rogers Pay as you go. I really DON'T think this is worth $180 more than every other smartphone out there that is selling for $600 CAD.... In fact, it's worth LESS with it's outdated HVGA display. 800x480 is the new standard. 854x480 is the bar-setter currently. I think that by Q4 2010 we will see 1024x576 phones. I bet Apple will still be using an old standard then.

If i had loads of money i might just buy it - its not like people THAT rich ever go out in public. Also its an investment - gold and diamonds retain their cost as currency inflates and this phone also holds value as a unique rarity.

i don't know what you guys are smoking, but diamonds have almost no resale value, unless they're particularly rare and special diamonds. that 7.1ct diamond on the front might retain its value, and the gold can certainly be resold for its inherent value, but all of those little crap diamonds flanking the edge and on the back are completely worthless after you've paid for them. i doubt you could get more than 1mm selling the parts of this thing.
