Why is Cameron so obsessed with stereoscopic imaging? It's just silly and a completely useless technology. I'll admit that old stereoscopic pictures are really cool, but the whole 3D movie/tv/game fad is ridiculous. First, lots of people already wear glasses, so we don't want to wear other glasses over our glasses. And no, we will NOT buy prescription 3D glasses! Second, passive 3D like on the 3DS is a fail, just try tilting your head a bit while playing in 3D on that thing. Effect LOST.

3D = FAIL. NASA should be working with scientists, not film makers. He's a FILM MAKER. He should have literally ZERO say on anything NASA does.

Mars Rovers Spirit and Opportunity already had stereoscopic cameras to create 3D images. There are lots of them on the NASA site.
