Typical argument....

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. I do feel sorry for individuals with problems. In this case though, why should the other 99% be unhappy. If they could find a sound that was pleasing to the 99% and still benefited the blind then I would say "go for it."

Also, I agree with the point about blind people walking around on their own. Are we going to put buzzers on our electric lawnmowers next 😉. All i'm saying is, the solution should be beneficial to the disabled, yet not inconvenience/annoy the 99%.

This is an old idea discussed over a year ago by US manufacturers. The idea was to project a focused audible warble only directly in front of the vehicle. Not really worthy of all this discussion.

they probably are going to make them buzz like a normal car.. a little like a stationary fuel powered car. The faster the car goes the louder the buzz.

I can imagine if they all buzz at the same frequency we'd all go crazy!
Current cars are good for blinds, because they are louder the faster they drive, and near to silent on standby.
To not go nuts they'd have to create a pitch variation in speeds, not to get the person in trance.
The car can not sound like a police or firetruck alarm, and the system needs to be cheap and efficient.

Most likely the best system is one that's mounted on the wheels, and captures some of the magnetic waves of the electromotor, and converts that to a sound (eg: 1 wheel rotation per second could translate in a 400Hz sound).

It's not that people are blind, they're deaf. A lot of times at a parking lot driving through the lanes, there'll be people walking that don't even notice you're behind them. Blocking the whole freakin lane too. It's like, move dummies.

This problem will sort itself out. A few years down the road all the blind that can't adapt will no longer breed the inability to adapt into our species. Ooooooh! Another idea all together with all of Japans technology we could create robotic antenae to create bionic insect people. A reality show with bloopers of the blind being injured along with pranks being played on them could support the project.

I run over dogs all the time in my Prius! The car runs so quietly that the bastards don't even know they're screwed until the front bumper crashes into the dog's skull. It's the bomb, I love killing these noisy smelly dogs!
