Japanese MAD software

Does anyone know what software MAD videos are usually made in?

It seems like you could use any video editing tool. I would imagine that most folks use free tools like Windows Movie Maker.

But Ive seen ones with anime characters from one anime inserted into another and I know you cant do that in wmm.

True. It really depends on how much you want to spend (time and money) on producing these videos. You could certainly perform such tasks with professional editing tools like Final Cut (for Mac) and Sony's Vegas Pro (for PC).

You can also make Flash movies, but that too would require you purchasing the appropriate software suite/tools from Adobe.

So, how much are you willing to spend? Also, what are the specs for the system you will be editing on?

At the moment not much because I need a laptop first, But are there any software good for Linux? Because I like it better for such tasks.
Also I dont know if I will ever do it as much to make buying software worth it.
