Jbl receiver overheating

I have a jbl receiver that when I turn it on the fan spins for a second and stops it's causing it to overheat after awhile and shuts off as expected without a working fan i don't know if it's the fan or if it's something else causing the fan not to work like I said it come on for a second should I get a new fan or is something else causing the problem

Fans on stereos are there to guard against unusual demands and don't come on during normal use.

Now if it's doing a thermal shutdown without having the fan coming on to aid there then something is out of wack.

I recommend a good vacuum, and if that doesn't work, take it in to have a tune up.
