[citation][nom]mgilbert[/nom]I couldn't bear to watch this video. I've seen just enough of "Judge" Judy to realize that she is nothing but an arrogant, obnoxious, holier than thou, camera hogging bitch. Her "rulings" have nothing to do with applicable laws or fairness. She makes snap judgments about people with virtually no proof, and then makes her "decisions" based on whoever kisses her ass the most.Anyone stupid enough to allow her to hear their case is a fool, and deserves whatever happens to them.[/citation]

Totally agree, except that the costs are paid by the show on both sides, so it's a win / win situation for a bit of humiliation.

[citation][nom]jitpublisher[/nom]Then don't bring your sniveling, self serving, waste of time nonsense to trial. That is what 95% of these civil cases are. Someone is p.o.'d at someone, and they are just looking for revenge of some sort. I have watched her for years, and there have been very few times she made a decision that I didn't think was quick, direct, to the point and perfect. And yeah, she is not 21 years old anymore. But she is still smart, and she also has access to documents and proceedings that you don't see on the show. More than half of these cases I would say her mind is already made up because of the nature of the case, and laws in place that pertain to it, before the people ever even set foot in the courtroom. But yes, this is a TV show too, and some dramatics must be played out.[/citation]

I am well aware of her resources. And, as you said, she often has her mind made up before the disputing parties even reach the courtroom! She makes her mind up who she likes, and who she doesn't, before she hears any evidence, and God help you if she doesn't like you. She badgers, berates, and insults those she doesn't like, and that is most unprofessional.

If you can't act mature and argue your case without calling me names and insulting me, don't respond to what I've said.

LOL, because you set a perfect precedent to be above the name calling with your original post. Court shows are dramatic and ultimately pointless (like 99% of the rest of television) but there is no reason to get bent out of shape. These cases are almost entirely hearsay, it makes no difference if the judge has their mind set before hand because no new evidence comes up during the proceeding, just a lot of arguing and if we're lucky a few good one-liners like "oh do you want to be judge for a while? no, so stop interrupting".

I saw an episode of Judge Judy a good 10 or 11 years ago where this guy duped her in to making his friend pay for a ton of computer parts.

The friend had sent him one of those fake viruses that said it was going to delete everything on the computer (remember those?). This guy was computer savvy too, so you know he knew what it was. Instead he went on a shopping spree. He bought hard drives and CD-Burners (new at the time) and a bunch of blank CDs all in the name of backing up his precious data. He then took the "friend" to Judge Judy, who, at least at the time, didn't know jack about computers. Judge Judy sided with him and made the friend pay for all his stuff!

Rent to own places are just one tiny step above the Payday loan places which are just barely above the Maffia. Of course, both of these places are probably owned by the mob.

Rent-a-Center. Of course. Now I understand how she paid $2500 for the PS3. They're a total rip off.

You want proof of racism, preying on the poor, and just a general bad idea? Look at rent to own places, payday loan places, and credit cards. That's why the poor black communities are still poor. Don't blame the big banks or real estate companies.

Never, ever, ever trust rent to own places, payday loan places, or credit card companies. They are a total rip off. If you can't afford it, don't buy it. 300-1000% annual interest (which is what you get with payday loans and rent to own places) is not worth it.

Look at this lady. She paid 8 times and much over a year and a half to get that playstation. That's over 400% annual interest.

It's preying on idiots only, that's fine by me (and no I'm not rich).

[citation][nom]elbert[/nom]Isn't there a way on the playstation network to see who is using them? Get the IP and trace it down. If she did this and proved he had it he could spend time in jail for lying under oath.[/citation]

You would need his PSN user ID which would only prove an account. It would be like proving you stole a laptop and took it to work after tracking the IP you used to check your email account that you used to use on the laptop. All the IP and PSN account proves is that you have that account, no the specific hardware. If it was stolen she should have involved the cops to report the stolen property and had them retrieve it for her. It's more likely she was trying to get him to pay the bill for the PS3 which she overpaid for. Had the judge ruled in her favor he result would have been more likely a retail amount for a PS3 rather than the sale price.

[citation][nom]sliem[/nom]Yes she is stupid. Unless the PS3 had a coke in it lol.[/citation]

Properly worded, that would make more sense. I'm assuming you meant that it had "cocaine" in it. Instead of "a coke" which implies a single container of Coca-Cola beverage. :)

Since this is after all a news article about court proceedings, we should all be analyzing things from a legal and literal sense yes?

Flame away...

Why haven't these rent to own places been sued out of existence for fraud? Imagine if a new car dealership ended up making you pay a total of $50,000 for a Hyundai Accent.

Yeah, and above all don't blame the people who chose to drop out of high school and work at McDonalds instead of going to college or a vocational school. Last I checked, those poor people chose their career and chose to sign that contract with RAC.

Stop making excuses for / bailing out the people who can't be bothered to make good decisions for themselves in life. It's not a color thing anymore, it's a responsibility thing! It hasn't been a color thing for YEARS. Get over it.
