Recently purchased a ASUS N551JQ-EH71 for gaming. I know its not the best but I only play games like Rome 2 or Skyrim. I have a question on whether I should get an SSD or just leave the rig as is. I need the space as this is a computer for work as well. So I would need at least a 500 GB SSD. Also what would make this laptop a better system for gaming?

Specs:
Processor: Intel Core i7-4710HQ
RAM: 8GB RAM
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 845M
Storage: HDD 750GB 5400rpm
Operating System: Windows 8.1

Hi,

If you're going for a faster performance, a SSD would be the best way to go. SSD doesn't have any mechanical or moving parts that slows down everything. Plus maxing out your memory to 16 GB would also be a plus with it's a performance. That should be enough for most games and specially for work.

I have the same laptop. I just took out the dvd player, purchased a HD caddy for $10 and put the 750GB HD that it came with in there and purchased a 250Gb Samsung Evo SSD and installed it where the original HD was.
