"DAYUM!!!!" is right.
I've have their D-ILA front projector (G11).
Absolutely love it, but needed Dilard calibration to get good blacks.
Guests are always awed by it.
Picked up a cheap spare on ebay.

Glad you like it!

Nobody even wants to look at the plasmas anymore with that JVC on the
floor.

Are there any plans to make one with native 1080i support? Or must it be
progressive, making that 1080p?

I know Hitachi has an LCD coming promising 1080p support. Don't know how the
PQ will compare to the JVC though.

Man, I don't know. This thing took us all by surprise, just popping
into the store, out of the blue, without warning. We always get a
heads up before we receive a new product... with all the specs... a
general explanation of the technology, etc., but Sears dropped the
ball on this one and left us hung out to dry with this incredible
display and without any knowledge to answer the most basic question
that we've heard every hour on the hour since we set it up.... "Why is
the picture on this TV so much better than all the others?".

I'm a total "sponge" on this liquid crystal on silicone display right
now and need to learn a lot more about it and where it's going. I
know we're getting some other LCOS shortly, some strange brand name
and in the 70" range but at this time, that is all I know.

I noted in the owner's manual, general burn-in warnings but I don't
know how much of a concern that would be with one of these. Anybody
have any idea how much of a concern burn-in will be with this TV? TIA

Like LCD and DLP, it is not an issue.

In the world of rear projection televisions, the JVC D-ILA is the new
king of the hill. No question about it.

Haven't seen it, but no matter how good it is it is still a JVC, one of the
worst options interms of servicability in many markets. IME there are few
companies more arrogant and less helpful to servicers and consumers as JVC.

I'd be very curious of the parts costs and availability for these sets and
the service network. Ask the tough questions before you buy.

JVC has always put it's emphasis on engineering and research. It has
some of the best electronic engineers in the business.
Where JVC fails is in the company/customer interface. JVC is not very
good at customer support and is incredibly lousy at marketing.
In terms of reliability I've never had a problem with JVC. So I've
never had to deal with their customer service apparatus.
Whatever their support capabilities, the set is probably the best out
there right now in terms of picture quality. JVC has managed to make the
LCOS scheme work for a reasonable price. The rest of them are still
working on it. Intel has given up altogether.

Intel hasn't given up they just miscalculated where the competition would
be when they planned their first device. They built a 1M pixel LCOS device
which they then decided wasn't very competitive. They are coming out with
a 2M pixel LCOS device next year. Intel has the best process technology in
the world and the deepest pockets of any chip maker, they can afford to
make a mistake every now and then.

AGREEED JVC was purchased (majority shares) by Panasonic in the early 80's
because JVC had developed VHS video recording technology. I started
watching them at that point and they have consistently had the STATE OF THE
ART technology. BUT, "Wait one year and you can have that technology in a
Panasonic for alot less and it's more reliable."

Because of the higher cost of a JVC they haven't developed a market share
that we servicers could make money on if we were a service center. SO,
there are few service centers and many don't get enough volume to be good at
repairing them.
