I have a JVC AM/FM/CD FS-V30 mini unit that plays the CDs vertically. On any number of my discs, whether store bought or home brew, the read head will go flying back and forth in its track. Sometime it sticks and the music keeps repeating. It doesn't seem to matter if the disk is new, recently cleaned or a library loaner. Any suggestions?

It's at work and is about four or five years old. The speakers are clad in wood and the display and cd player have a blue backlight. It came with a remote as well.

I have the same unit. I have the same problem. It seems much worse on burned cd's. Tried a cd cleaner cd. It helped initially, but it still is skipping again, and subseqent cleanings don't seem to help. Anyone come up with any good advise for you yet? The thing that bugs me so much is that I really like the speakers. It's really a good sounding unit. One thought might be to just buy another cd and plug it into the unit. At least you would have saved yourself the cost of a receiver.
