Helllp. i have a macbook pro which is coming up to 18months old. I recently had the screen changed under a known fault at apple in Bath. This isnt the problem though, after this change about 3 weeks later my keyboard and track pad stopped working. I stopped this by turning it off and on again and it seemed to work a couple of times. Now its does nothing and I mean nothing. on taking it to an apple dealer they said the keyboard and track pad are broke and i need to pay £480 to get it fixed...I bought a macbook on the basis they were pretty tough and were built to last but htis seems to be a false assumption. Is this common or can I get apple to do something to help me. Any help or suggestions are welcome. Before you ask I've tried all the different ways suggested to try and fix this but to no avail. please help me as £480 seems crazy to fix something I've hardly used and spent so much on to start with. cheers del

You could repair it yourself and source the replacement parts for the keyboard and the trackpad from Ebay. I would suggest that you also try and see if someone else in your region/locality will help with the repairs for a lower price tag.

I would love to have a go but I know nothing about what I need to do in order to fix it. I dont even know what to look for, i thought apple had there own tools to open them.
