I have a dell latitude E6510 laptop that is almost brand new (just a couple of weeks old). Recently, verious keys on the keyboard have gotten "stuck". I use quotation marks because sometimes the keys will act as if held, and sometimes they wil act as if they are being pressed at rapid speeds. Typically, the problem does not present itself imediately. The keys usually start sticking within 5 to 15 minutes after booting (although once, the keyboard began malfunctioning before I had a chance to enter my password). So far none of the number or letter keys have been sticking. The keys that have been acting up include, but may not be limited to, the shift key, alt key, ctrl key, tab key, arrow keys, space key and the backwards slash key.
I doubt the problem is a result of a virus, but I scanned my computer anyway yielding no results.
I wonder if it may be a product of the heat. I have been taking this computer to work, working on it all day and then carrying it home in a black backpack (which I presume is heating up fairly intensely in the sun on my commute home). The only thing is, I'm not sure how this would be affecting my keyboard... and be so selective as to which keys stick. (Though, if different parts of my laptop are heating up more intensely, then perhaps I have the answer to the second part of that question).
I'm also wondering if perhaps something may have been knocked loose internally on my commute to work which includes walking, running, dodging traffic, jumping stairs to catch trains, bumpy busses and the like... all with my computer in a bag on my back.
Any diagnosis or solutions would be greatly appreciated.
