The issue may be that MS doesn't want to burn manufacturers that are creating Windows 7 Phones by directly competing with them. In this way, they are releasing something that is a negligable threat to the business models of their partners.

This is the point where everyone takes a step back and let's MS marinate for a couple of years. At least until the dust settles and they figure out what they are doing.

In the meantime, I'll be migrating to Android.
