Microsoft has released some information about the Kinect for Windows v2, and it looks an awful lot like the Kinect for Xbox One.

I don't think this should come as a surprise to anyone. Anyway, it's a good thing that they're bringing the new sensor to PC. It's a LOT more capable in every way possible. Eventually they should miniaturize it and integrate it into monitors/laptops. It is a lot more than a simple webcam though, so I know that's easier said than done.Better yet, shrink both this and the Oculus Rift and combine the two for an AR headset.
