I have seen a preview of a couple of VR games and in them I see the weapons and stuff floating in air with no limbs there. Is that standard? With the glasses on does it somehow overlay the weapons and stuff over your own arms? Seeing the previews makes it look kinda weird.

RAW DATA used to show full limbs. I think they removed it back to arms and wrists.
I do recall playing that when the hands drifted or tracking got interrupted, the streching / twisting of the arm models would get disconcerting.

Star Trek Bridge crew has full limbs, but it does have boundaries so you can't walk around and get contorted. It works pretty well, but there are limitations and clipping issues.

It depends on the game. But it's very common for much of your body to be left out, especially in games where you'll be moving around. It prevents you from feeling weird because the game doesn't show your legs or torso or elbows in the position they really are.
