I have an Asus X550J-258D running Windows 7 Ultimate.I've installed this windows 3 mounths ago and everything worked fine.A few weeks ago my HDD had a problem, making me unable to boot into the system not even from an image.I managed to solve the problem by sending my laptop to a specialised center and it figured that the partitions went dynamic and the hard disk wouldn't access them.A few days after my laptop's repair some games started to run with lag spikes, and by lag spikes I mean 1-2 seconds freezes randomly. Those lag spikes seem to affect games like Counter Strike,Euro Truck Simulator 2 and my PS2 Emulator. In the ps2 emulator the freeze also affects the sound. Also, when I try to watch video online it will lag or freeze for one seconds in random moments. Can it be something wrong with my hard disk?

My specs:
Intel Core I5 4200h 2.8 ghz
8 GB of RAM Memory
1 TB HDD Sata
Nvidia GTX 850M 2 GB Vram

Also,as another note, after the hard disk problem has been solved, someone recovered D partition and used Active Disk Image to restore the system, but the D partition remained at the same state before my first problem. After that that someone repartitionated my 3 partitions, adding 300 gb from D partition to E partition.

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help in solving the issue.
- Start by doing a clean install of the graphics card driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the graphics driver.
- Check Programs and Features as well and uninstall anything related to your graphics card.
- Next is to download and install the latest driver from the manufacturers site.
- Here's the link: nvidia.com/download/index.aspx
- Once installed reboot your laptop for all the changes to take effect.
- Set NVIDIA as the default graphics card as well.

If all these will not work I would suggest replacing the HDD.

I am sorry for the very long delay,I had some personal problems that I've finally managed to solve.I've tried reinstalling my graphics card driver, updated it,but still nothing.Anyway,I was expecting that this couldn't be the major problem as those lag spikes also occur when playing Counter Strike for example on witch I use Intel HD Graphics video card. But wether I use Nvidia or Intel HD Graphics video card I encounter those annoying lag spikes.I've searched over the internet and found a program called HD Tune that allows to do a benchmark or an error scan.I've scaned for bad sectors, thinking that that might be the problem as the hard disk had that up-mentioned problem, but the program didn't find any error regarding hard disk state.I also ran a benchmark and here is the result.

I've also reminded that I forgot to mention something witch could be important. When my laptop came back,I had a "this windows is not gennuine" problem and I found on internet that I can solve the problem by deleting slui from system32.The "windows is not genuinne" notification appears whenever I open control panel, notepad, paint or a picture, but the black activation screen problem witch occurs on non genuine windows had dissapeared.I don't think this could be the problem of my lag spikes, but still, could this been affected my hdd in any way?Any more ideas?
