Laptop battery runs out and goes to sleep when gaming while charged

Hi all,
I have started playing a game on my laptop - on charge. However occasionally the laptop will turn off/go to sleep in the middle of the game. I have figured out that the battery runs down while gaming, and it sleeps when it gets to 0%, even though the laptop is plugged in and 'charging'.

Any suggestions how to fix this? Or should I take it back to the store (just over one year old).

could be overheating and shut itself down.
