Whenever my laptop goes into hibernation after inactivity whenever I try to use 2 fingers on the trackpad to scroll the laptop makes beeping sounds. ( the sounds are coming from the speakers and it will also play the beeping in headphones if I have some plugged in). It is really annoying as I don't know what is causing it to keep being.

Could you describe how beeps sound like ( something like one short and one long) or better yet upload a video of a beep. You might be able to know that way what the beep means if you also know your BIOS (like American Megatrends, Phoenix etc.).

Its a single beep at a time but the longer I try to scroll the more beeps it gives off.

It sounds like the software for the trackpad is trying to insert up and down arrows into the keyboard buffer and the keyboard or trackpad driver isn't coming out of sleep entirely. not much you can do about this other than update (or downgrade) your trackpad drivers and make sure your wake settings for the keyboard and mouse are correct and your BIOS is set correctly (also check to see if it's up to date)

Ok thanks I've already tried the drivers both updating and downgrading but I didn't have any look, how do I check the BIOS settings for the trackpad and keyboard?

Do this ONLY if you're not using hard drive encryption!!

Take a picture with your phone of the hard drive settings in the bios, reset your bios to factory default, reboot, change your hard drive settings back and see if that helps.

Unfortunately I do have my hard drives encrypted so that one is out of the picture.

If you're using Microsoft Bitlocker encryption you can turn it off, wait f o r e v e r for it to decrypt and do it. It would be a good time to update the bios too...

Ok once I've got it to decrypt how do I get into the bios? is it the same as on a desktop?
