Laptop computer faster than my desttop

I just purchased an Alienware 15incd I benchmarked it against my i5 HD7950 The Alien ware is running a gtx970m. I was shocked to see the gtx970m run about 20% farster in all gpu benchmarks. Does this sound right to you?

Yes it is. That card is somewhere in between desktop GTX760-770.
