laptop cord not charging

Hello friends!

So I've eliminated all the obvious stuff like it's not the battery and yes it's plugged in. I'm 100% sure that the plug inside the laptop is somehow responsible. The model is np350v5c samsung. I have two of them so I checked known good parts etc. Haven't opened any panels yet though. I bought it sept 17, 2012 so i'm hoping it would be covered by warranty.

Basically the problem is like this: I plug the laptop cord into the slot for it. It doesn't charge the battery. The computer works normally from battery. Since I have two I can charge the battery in one and swap it but that doesn't help when I need the cord for playing games so I need to solve this because otherwise I'd have like 5 minutes of gaming on the full power graphics!

It will however charge if I push it in HARD and slightly to the back of the laptop. So I know whatever is inside is not BROKEN but it must be loose or damaged or on the verge of breaking. I had a similar problem with other electronics before and they all eventually broke because of this kind of problem.

Is there anything I can do to fix it myself with little or no risk? Or should I just hope for warranty repairs? If it's a year I really only have a month left if that is the case.

edit: My interim solution is putting large thick elastic bands around the laptop and holding the plug in....it kind of works but it's ghetto and ugly and ghetto, and it still kinda moves. And it's ghetto.

HaVe a friend or a local computer store check the ac brick voltage output with a volt meter. The output on the bottom of the brick. If the brick is fine the soilder joint on the power port on the laptop is snapped. Only fix is to take the laptop apart and replace it.

The bricks both work fine on the second laptop which is identical to this one.

So if I do have to take it apart can this piece just be soldered back on by myself? Is there some specific kind for computer stuff?

Use your warranty on your laptop. If you dont have the tools and training you can snap the laptop case real easy or melt parts on the laptop system board. There are google videos showing how to replace laptop power plugs. Most users have Nice high end soilder station to do the repair.

Well I decided I was brave enough to open it....so many screws lol. Everything inside looked normal there was the little power receptacle thing, the wires coming from it etc all normal not burnt. But somehow it must be that part because it charged if I held it in with a bit of force. The metal pieces holding it in place were slightly bent but it was easy to move them back into place. It stopped charging at all though.

Looks like I'm looking at warranty repairs. :S

Unless anyone has had this problem and knows how to repair it? Maybe a replacement part?
