Laptop Disk Usage 80%-100%

I've just recently replaced my laptops ram (upgraded 8gb to 16gb) and my hard drive to an ssd yet i still get one of the same issues i had before, that my disk usage is very high. I'm not using any files that i had previously so i assume its a hardware thing? any help would be great.

Youre going to have to give some more info. What size ssd? what os? fresh install?

500gb ssd, and its windows 10 currently but i had the same issue on windows 8.1. and yes it was a fresh install.

The laptop also has its fans very high, regardless of temperature and has done this even before the new ssd.

Ok... so when you go into the Bios and look at the hard drive, does it come up as the proper size? and when you go to install the OS on the formated ssd, does the windows installer show the correct partition size? Also, this was a freshly reformatted ssd with zeroes written over it, right?
