Laptop Specs: Intel i7-10750H CPU 2.60 GHz, RTX 2070 Super. Screen 144hz.

External Monitor: LG 27GN750-B UltraGear Gaming Monitor 27” FHD (1920x1080) IPS Display, 1ms Response, 240HZ Refresh Rate, G-SYNC Compatibility

The laptop has a screen for 144hz. The external monitor I purchased is 240hz. When I connect it with hdmi and check it recognizes it's a 240hz monitor, but when I go into games it doesn't go past 144hz. My laptop doesn't have a display port, so I got an adapter to try the display cable but then the pc shows that monitor can only go up to 60 hz.

Using the hdmi cable it appears as though everything should be working properly it just doesn't show 240 as an option in games. I have a desktop that doesn't have this issue and shows 240 on all games. I'm not sure what's going on here.

This is normal, most HDMI and other external video specs can't run external screens at 240, some can't even do 120 depending on the resolution.

If you contact the support people for the laptop you should be able to get all the info about the video output specs.

Try to make an extension for less, I have an ATI card and I suffered for a long time through its settings, but still set it up. There you need to choose the correct extension and it may not necessarily be 1920 by 1080.
Also try to look in the TV settings. There is a special settings for computers and consoles.
Pixels on a TV set will be visible in any way, since the pixels themselves and the interpixel distance are almost twice as large as monitor ones.
Well, it could be a problem with the cable. If all else fails, try changing the HDMI.
