My hp pavilion dv6 fan has broken recently, and I have had this laptop for 4 years now. I sent it into best buy to get it replaced, but they charge $200 to fix a fan... I was wondering if it would be better if I replace the fan myself which you can find on Amazon for around $10, use a cooling pad for my laptop, or use something like this:

Thank you.

It would be dangerous if you did not have a fan in front of the heatsink of the CPU.

$200 seems completely overpriced so if you are sure you can replace it you should replace it for $10. You may have to check if you need thermal paste tho.

Open the back , read the manufacturer / model number of the fan and then do a web search for the part.... if no luck, try the HP model number.
