Laptop for General Use - JAVA, UNIX

Hi,

I am planning to buy a laptop for learning technologies like Java, UNIX, and other stuff, where I would be using it for running on minimum data in case if I am working on same database technology.

I am hoping a 2 GB RAM, 500 GB Hard Disk would do.. something which comes in 20000Rs (300$)

Just concerned on the Processor, should I go for AMD or Pentium or Celeron or i3 and does Clock speed matter?

Would not be multi tasking with many applications but would be like general use, Just want to go for a cheap one which I can use of 2 years or so.

Get a cheap AMD dual/quad core based laptop and if your budget can stretch, one with an SSD rather than HDD.
