Laptop for uni and light gaming, £400 budget

Hey guys just looking for some help purchasing a new laptop, copied this list from the Laptop buyers sticky


1. What is your budget? £400

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? 13" (not a big issue)

3. What screen resolution do you want? 1080p minimum

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? It would be a desktop replacement laptop

5. How much battery life do you need? 4-6hr or better

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
Skyrim
Rust
Shadow of Mordor
medium or high, just looking to get a foot into pc gaming.

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
programming, video editing.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
500gb minimum

2-3 years or more

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
basic dvd/writer

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
N/A like all brands, just concerned about lenovo with all that ad stuff.

13. What country do you live in? Scotland

You are not going to find any laptops with a dedicated card for £400. A dedicated card is going to be essential for gaming those titles at those settings. Integrated graphics, which is what you're going to get for £400, won't cut it.

Neither are you likely to get hardware capable of more than basic video editing and rendering.
