Hi,
I have an old laptop (about 4 years) of unknown brand (turbox a15h). Some months ago it went dead, and with this i mean not booting at all (like no battery and no charger was plugged in) so I return it the store where they told me that they needed 180€ to replace the motherboard and still they didn't guarantee it would solve the problem. I said 'no thanks' so they returned it to me. However when it came back it was working again.... Now after 6 months it refuses to boot again just like before. I thought it might be the cmos battery so I changed it with another one of a working laptop but still it wouldn't show any sign of life... The thing is, when I connect the charger, a small area in the motherboard gets extremely hot and then immediately cold again when I disconnect it. Does anybody know if there is something I can do to save this laptop? Perhaps a brand new cmos battery?
Here is the photo with the area that gets overheated circled with red
