Laptop HDMI sound output is wrong

Hello there,

I am having a bit of a problem getting my system set up. I have an HDTV connected to a Home theatre. The home theatre has 2 HDMI inputs and 1 output that is connected to the TV.

Now I have my PS3 connected to the home theatre and it functions properly sending the image to the TV and the audio through the home threatre.

However when I try to connect my laptop to the other HDMI input it seems to send both video/audio to the TV instead of playing the sound through the home theatre.

Any ideas on how I fix this?

try the first hdmi port and see if you have the same problem.

it sounds like more of an issue with the receiver than laptop to me.

are you using a true receiver or one of the dvd player/combo units found in HTIB sets? htib set units can be chock full of such issues.
