Laptop headphone socket not working

Okay, So ive baked my laptop for a long time, You could literally cook eggs on it, you get the picture, it was that bad. Recently the laptop charger point was not charging so sent it for repairs and now it works amazingly smooth. He cleaned all the dust n etc. Anyway the service guy was like headphone/mic sockets wont work and he states the motherboard is faulty. What can i do about this???

Laptop Gateway p7805u.

I cant buy new laptop until i come to USA which is in september. Rest of the world is 3x more expensive compared to USA.

buy a cheap usb audio stick for around £5 or whatever that is in local currency.

did you make sure to set your computers playback device to the audio stick when you plugged it in?
