Laptop is getting heat

HI Experts,

I am having HP laptop, it's giving more heat after 10 minutes of start. Can anyone tell me what to do to reduce over heat.

HP dv2500 14", 4Gb RAM, 4MB L2 Cache, 250 Gb HDD I bought it in US 2007.

Being 4 years old it's probably time to clean the fan and reapply new thermal compound.

right now I am in Pune, India. Could you please tell me where to buy new thermal compound. Is it advisable to apply by myself or need to go for servicing centre?

I think you'd want a service tech with the right tools (and skills/training) to work on it.
They should have thermal compound or suitable thermal pad.
