Solved! Laptop not powering on after power surge(s).

I came home one day after a string of outages in my area to find that my laptop wasn't powering on at all. I would press the power button and some lights would come on but nothing else. It wouldn't boot up and the light would blink for a split second like it's trying to come on but nothing happens. I've looked up solutions like taking the battery out and running it on AC power but that yielded the same result. I'm not sure what to do next. My laptop isn't very old, less than 5 years and I don't want to buy a new one yet if I don't have to.

Try a different charger. Could be the motherboard got damaged.
