Laptop not recognizing battery and dies when unplugged

Hello,

We have a new HP Elitebook 8470p that was recently imaged. After imaging, it will not recognized the internal battery and dies immediately when unplugged. It is a Windows 7 laptop.

I think there may be one setting that was changed that is stored on the image or possibly in the BIOs that is causing it to not be recognized. Any suggestions?

Battery charging is all hardware, software settings have nothing to do with it. Your battery has most likely failed; this happens a lot. Take it back to the store for a replacement.

I'll also chalk that up to a dead battery. Take it back, or if it's too late to do that then send it back to HP.
