Laptop, Oculus Rift CV1, eGPU, Possible?

I'm new to this eGPU thing, but have an Asus laptop , Oculus Rift CV1 with a 1050ti and would like to know is it disaster to put the Rift's HDMI in not... the constantly not detected laptop port, but rather in the HDMI port on the back of the graphic card while it's on the EXP GDC beast dock?. I cannot setup or install Rift software like it is.

It'll either work well or it won't, if you've already got the bits then give it a try.

It does work! Took the plunge after reading that folks have stuck ext. monitors into their eGPU cards. Tried feeling more comforted. Solved...
