I have a Lenova x61 I just pulled out of storage and installed Windows 10. It is overheating when I watch video. It makes a bit of a racket when it boots and I can't feel any air coming out the vent where I believe the fan pushes out the heat. Is there a way to check if the fan is working without opening it up?
Thanks so much!

You should be able to hear the fan running in a quiet room, as well as felling warm/hot air coming out of the large air vent on the side.

If neither is happening, the fan is not running. In that case your laptop needs repairing.

The fan and outtake could also be clogged with dust. You would have to open the case and clean it out. I've seen many laptops totally plugged up inside with dust/hair balls. People never clean them periodically like desktops so it happens.
