I recently got Hp elitebook 8470p, machine works fine except for the heat it produces. right side of touchpad gets really hot after using for 15-20 minutes. (without running any software, movies or games)

I downloaded couple of temperature checking utilities. They are showing one of sensor (named PCHZ or temp2) constantly at 127c. I tried finding which hardware part this sensor is related to but could not find.

Machine is fresh (no dust) refurbished. I donot have option of HP warranty.

Kindly guide me what to do, I have spent goof amount of money on this and now all that seem to be lost for nothing??

Is there a way to solve this ? can this issue be fixed by repairing? or turning off any specific hardware?? Any help would be highly appreciated. thanks lot in advance for your time.

It is most likely an anomalous temperature reading, i would enable any power saving features on the laptop setting windows to power saver mode, this will reduce the temps.

The first sign you should NOT buy this was the term "refurb". The second sign was the lack of warranty. We all seem to learn things the hard way.

In the country you are in what are your consumer rights. If you purchased something like this in the UK you have some protection and the seller has some obligations regardless of their claim of no warranty. Time to find out your rights.
