Laptop question (gaming)

I have a Toshiba satellite and was wondering about using it for gaming after some upgrades however I don't think they exist but I need some sort of graphics card that can fill and optical drive as there is no graphics card slot either that are a processor that can provide enough built in power to play games at 1366x768. I know it's a stupid question and I do have experience in computers but laptops are not my best asset.
Any alternative would be appreciated


(UPDATE) although I appreciate the help that you have given I still do not feel 100% that my question has been awnsered. Regardless I already have a gaming desktop but would like to expand my experience further without "breaking the wallet on a new laptop just for gaming also the fact that I have already invested money into this one makes it more worth while to find an alternative".

Laptops are not made to be upgraded, it's not impossible but you have to know what you are doing. But it depends on your laptop components

For gaming, it depends what games, facebook games are ok but modern gaming are a no no.
Upgrading the graphic card is almost impossible since it integrated ion the motherboard. Also, most of the time, a laptop .

The best thing can tell you, don't buy a laptop for gaming.

One of the major reasons I stay clear of portables is unservicability. Like the previous poster said, gaming is for desktops. Let portables do what only they can do, and that's not gaming.

The Toshiba satellite series comes in so many flavors it is hard to say. Really all you could upgrade would be memory and possibly the graphics. The graphics cant be upgraded in most of the satellite line. You might Google your exact model to see if you can add a discrete graphics card. Toshiba does have discrete card options on there highest end lines but I do not know if these are soldered to the main board or not(think thicker larger laptops.)

Anyhow I would not waste a penny upgrading a laptop other than on memory.

My best alternate is to build/buy a cheap gaming PC for real games and play low requirement games on the laptop like facebook, chess, and card games.

The only manufacturer I've heard of doing a graphics card in the optical bay is Lenovo, and that's new for this this year, and only on one model, (Y500) if my understanding is correct.

Laptops in general aren't meant for complex games, especially if you play for long periods of time. I learned that the hard way with my Toshiba Satellite. Laptops aren't generally made to upgrade other than important ones. Also, if you don't have a good cooling pad, the heat will rise very quickly when gaming and that can cause areas in the lower case to melt and the screws will loosen and fall out. Then you got to replace it. I suggest investing in building a gaming PC for large, complex games.

I have already built a gaming pc but would like a portable device also as it have already invested £200 in hardware on the laptop "8gb ram + SSD"

Then you have done all can do. At this point see which games play on the laptop even if you have to lower settings.
