Laptop RAM Upgrade

Hi,

I am trying to upgrade my laptop's RAM. It currently has a single 4GB stick of DDR3L memory (Labelled '4GB 1Rx8 PC3L-12800S-11-12-B4') which I believe is running at 1600MHz.

I wanted to use a dual channel kit running at a higher frequency (to improve the performance of the integrated graphics) so I found this kit online.

However, when I installed the above memory, my laptop will not boot; the screen remains black and the computer gives 4 beeps, is quiet for a few seconds, and then this repeats. From what I could find online this indicates a memory error, but I haven't been able to find a solution. I have tried using the two new sticks together, each individually, and each with the old RAM that was already in the laptop, but nothing works. Also, the laptop still runs fine with the old 4GB stick, so it is definitely not a problem with the motherboard.

Here are the specs of everything in case that helps:

From what I can find, that laptop can take up to DDR3-1866 (regular or low voltage) but does not list DDR3-2133 or DDR3L-2133 which is what you bought.
I have sometimes been able to use higher speed RAM than specified but in this case it looks like it won't take it.
You could try updating the BIOS on the laptop and it might then recognize the new RAM, but that's about all you can do besides sending the RAM back and getting DDR3-1866.

I figured that might be the case but from what I had researched I was expecting the RAM to be scaled back down to a supported speed rather than just straight up not working. I'll look into updating the BIOS but if not I will just look out for some 1866MHz memory (I would've got that in the first place if I hadn't found the 2133MHz kit for 30 bucks!)
