Laptop refuses to play some video files

VLC and PotPlayer for example, the laptop plays the audio fine but the video doesnt go along with it

Has this got something to do with the graphical power in it?

Do you mean it's not synched? VLC has settings to slow or speed up the sound so you can get it back in sync.

You likely don't have the correct codec installed. I like to use K-Lite Codec pack, it has pretty much everything most people would need.
