Laptop screen blotch

Please help:
I have a white blotch on the corner of my laptop screen. external monitor displays image fine. I already know that a piece of hardware will need replacing, my question is which? How do I tell if it's the ribbon cable, inverter, or screen itself? Thanks

the Cable is fine, 9/10 its the lcd you will need to replace.

It's neither the cable nor the inverter. Cable might yield flickering and some distortion - especially when pivoting the screen. Inverter would give you a dimmed screen or nearly no picture.

I agree with Adamh - the blotch is almost certainly your LCD panel.

Agreed with Adamh94 and Prostar, up there. It's not the ribbon or the inverter. A blotch of white actually sounds like a cracked LCD.

Okay, me again I was the one who asked.
Thanks for your speedy replies, really appreciate it. Now that I have ruled out the cable or inverter, I will probably go and get a new screen fitted.
