Laptop screen falling apart

My friend has a laptop but it is starting to fall apart. It was taped up with duct tape for a while now, but it's coming apart and has problems getting to turn on. Is there anything we can do about this?

Take the hard drive out, use the rest of it as a Frisbee.

Seriously.
If the case is broken enough that duct tape doesn't work and it has problems turning on...

Either buy a cheap, mostly broken one and maybe merge the two into one working laptop.
or
Use it as a frisbee.

There comes a time when something is too broken to fix. This may be the time for that one.
